That’s a wrap: BASE Music End‑of‑Term Concert at our Crows Nest Studio
Seeing young musicians take the stage reminds us that we’re all made for music. Small hands playing the bass, nerves turning into smiles, and a room full of parents cheering them on. Our BASE Music End‑of‑Term Concert, held on 21 September at the BASE Music Studio in Crows Nest, captured all of that and more. It was intimate, joyful, and a perfect snapshot of how music lessons can be a big part of growing confidence in early childhood.
Our little rock band jammed out to Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.
It was an intimate stage for our young performers
We kept things small and welcoming: a cosy audience, a compact stage, and lots of familiar faces. This intimate setting matters. It helps younger students feel safe enough to have their “first stage moment,” and it gives parents a front-row seat to the progress that’s happening week to week in their music lessons.
Each student had the chance to perform individually. Beyond practising, performing teaches focus and improvisation. For some of our students, it was their first performance and for other students they were seasoned rockers. We were incredibly proud to see improvements in everyone’s playing ability. For families exploring music lessons in Crows Nest or music lessons in North Sydney, this is something to consider.
Head Tutor Lachy is back from his travels
Our students really missed their Head Tutor Lachy, and we welcomed him back from his overseas tour. Parents often tell us that Lachy brings a calm, encouraging energy that helps kids feel both supported and challenged. That’s the core of our approach: flexible learning with space for creativity. If you’re on the lookout for a guitar tutor who can bring out their best, Lachy’s return adds even more momentum to the new term. And of course, we have some fantastic tutors on our roster who can deliver a wonderful learning experience within piano, drums and violin, to name a few.
Tutors on stage: Ollie and Eva
Tutors Ollie and Eva also jumped in with a tight performance that showed students what consistent practice can look and sound like. These mini tutor sets are fun for kids, but they’re also educational; they demonstrate ensemble listening, timing, and stage presence. For those considering bass guitar lessons or guitar lessons, seeing tutors play can often be the inspiration to continue playing.
Community vibes
Of course, it wasn’t just about the music. After the performances, families gathered over refreshments to celebrate the day’s little wins. Parents swapped tips, kids wandered between instruments to try something new, and tutors chatted with families about next steps. One of the best parts of offering music lessons in Crows Nest is the community that forms around the studio—friendly, supportive, and genuinely excited to see every child grow.
The impromptu rock band
The night’s most talked-about moment? We pulled a few students together and formed an on-the-spot rock band to play Seven Nation Army. The chant started, the riff hit, and the room lit up. It was simple and effective—perfect for young players—showing them how individual skills from lessons snap into place when they play as a group. If there’s curiosity about bass guitar lessons in particular, this song is a great entry point: it’s rhythmic, memorable, and builds confidence fast.
