Weekly Jam Night at BASE Music, Wednesdays in Crows Nest
Looking for a place to jam and meet other like minded musicians?
BASE Music Studio’s Crows Nest Jam Night is a weekly, welcoming space for musicians, to play with new people, and feel part of a supportive local music community.
What makes this jam different
- Supportive, friendly culture: No gatekeeping, just collaborative musicianship and good energy.
- Inclusive space: Guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboard players, singers, horn players. If you’re about the music, you belong here.
- Gentle guidance: Our organiser Lachlan will be floating around and will be able to answer any questions on the night.
Who it’s for
- Intermediate musicians who are comfortable with basic song forms and following cues.
- Players who want to build confidence, expand their network, and get better at reading a room and serving the song.
- People who value community and inclusivity.
Why jam?
Jamming encourages creativity and improves musicianship. You’ll sharpen your timing, improve dynamics, and learn to communicate with quick cues. You’ll might also pick up new repertoire, fresh approaches to tone and feel, and the subtle art of leaving space. Most importantly, you’ll meet other musicians who might become your future bandmates or even song-writing partners. At the very least, you’ll have a chat with other open minded musicians.
Bring
- Your instrument and essential accessories (strap, picks, sticks, tuner, capos)
- A couple of jam‑ready song suggestions in common keys
- An open mind and good jam etiquette: listen first, then play; leave space; support the groove
Jam etiquette
- Serve the song: keep volume balanced and parts complementary.
- Share the spotlight: short solos, strong support.
- Communicate: quick cues beat long explanations.
- Be kind: mistakes are part of the process; keep the groove going.
