Frazer Renu
Frazer is a passionate and technically skilled bass guitarist with over a decade of playing experience. He first picked up the bass guitar in 2013 while playing in his school band and hasn’t looked back since. Inspired by greats like Jaco Pastorius and Marcus Miller, Frazer has developed a deep appreciation for expressive, groove-driven playing and brings this same enthusiasm to his teaching.
Frazer has a strong academic foundation in music, having completed several AMEB exams and earning a Band 6 in Music 1 for the HSC in 2022. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music (Musicology) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he has studied jazz, funk, and advanced music theory. In addition to teaching students of various ages and skill levels, he has accompanied HSC performances and played in multiple big bands, giving him a strong command of both performance and notation reading.
Frazer's versatile playing style covers a wide range of genres including jazz, funk, rock, and pop. He is an active performer, playing regularly at Christ Church Gladesville with musical guidance from Emu Music, which has helped him refine his skills in band dynamics and ensemble playing.
As he continues his studies, Frazer is also working toward a future in music therapy, combining his musical talents with a growing interest in neuroscience. Whether students are picking up the bass for the first time or looking to refine their technique, Frazer brings a calm, supportive, and knowledge-rich approach to every lesson — always aiming to make music both fun and meaningful.
