Nicky Wellard

Nicky is a passionate and versatile bassist, producer, and composer with over 15 years of playing experience. He creates fun and engaging lessons tailored to each student’s individual goals, helping learners develop both technical skill and musical confidence. Nicky believes that every student has unique strengths and learning styles, and he designs his teaching approach to support personal growth and enjoyment of music.

Nicky is actively involved in several local music projects, including Almost Toast, a psychedelic instrumental group that recently completed a European tour in 2025, and Lip99, a contemporary rock band. He has also collaborated with local hip-hop artist Griffin Martin to produce an alternative jazz rap album. In addition, Nicky has toured domestically as a session musician, performing across RnB, soul, rock, and hip-hop styles.

After completing a Bachelor of Music and Sound Design, Nicky brings academic and practical knowledge into his teaching. He focuses on helping students understand the role of their instrument within music as a whole, encouraging them to think beyond technique and approach music as a form of creative expression and storytelling.
